Upgrade
Your Ruby Prepaid MasterCard® has a €1,650 cumulative annual balance, which means that you can’t spend or load more than that sum in any 12 month period.
To increase your card limit and increase the amount of load options available you can upgrade to a €3,000 limit card for €3.95. To upgrade you need to send us a copy of photo ID in your name and a proof of address; we can accept the following documents:
Photo ID – a photocopied or scanned copy from the list below:
- The photo page of your passport.
- Your EEA Identity Card
- Your Irish photocard driving licence
Proof of address – an original document dated within the last 3 months from the list below:
- Mortgage/bank/credit card statement
- Evidence of entitlement to a state or local authority-funded benefit
- Utility bill

Benefits of upgrading
Share your money
Once you have upgraded, you can add an additional card to your eccount to share money with a friend/family member, or to help budget. Your additional card costs just €6 (automatically deducted from your eccount).
Person to person payments
Once upgraded you can also make payments to another Ruby Card. Choose to send funds to the recipients card or eccount. P2P payments are charged at €1.
Receive your Wages/Benefits - FREE
Once upgraded you can Top-up your Ruby Card by having your wages / benefit payments made directly into your eccount. Please log-in to your eccount online and see the ‘Salary/Wage Payment Form’ under the 'Top-up' tab for further details.
The maximum load amount is €2,000. Funds will be available to spend within 4 working days.
